Greetings… please allow me to introduce myself.

Dr. Lee Funk

I am Dr. Lee Funk, a Board-Certified Diplomate in Acupuncture licensed in the State of Florida as a Doctor of Acupuncture since 2005. I am a student of University of Science, Arts and Technology Medical School, served as a paramedic for 10 years and was formerly a licensed Chiropractor for 28 years. It has always been the purpose of my life to bring pain relief to suffering people and believe that God has called me to be a Healer to the Hurting.

People have asked me how I ended up with such a diverse medical background and multiple credentials. I was born in Niles, Michigan but met Ruth Ann, the woman that would become my loyal and loving wife of 44 years while at small church in Sebastian, Florida in 1971 during a holiday. I went back home to Michigan after falling in love with Ruth Ann, so I couldn’t wait to finish college classes that year, then moved to Florida to marry my Ruth Ann who has been my encourager, supporting me through every step of our journey together.

Soon after I became a fireman, police officer and paramedic for 10 years and had many exciting real-life experiences which have created compassion and understanding of the human condition. I also worked the trauma unit in the air ambulance on my days off and went on several medical missionary trips in the third world countries of the Honduras and Haiti.

During this time, I also attended Indian River State College studying “pre-med” courses and then completed Chiropractic College in 1991 to become a Florida licensed chiropractic physician. I enjoyed a thriving Chiropractic practice for 17 years treating thousand of people suffering from a wide array of medical conditions until a health crisis forced me to retire.

Sadly, the office building that housed my Chiropractic Clinic was found to have toxic mold and so I developed severe respiratory problems that developed into a serious life threatening and lingering pneumonia. Having tried all traditional medical treatment to no avail, in desperation I finally went to an acupuncturist who literally saved my life in just a few non-invasive treatments. That is when I knew what I wanted to do with the rest of my life…heal people through the miracle of acupuncture (Traditional Chinese Medicine).

That convinced me to take a break from my chiropractic practice and I traveled to 17 countries with the goal of researching and studying oriental medicine and traditional Chinese medicine from the Asian Masters at the Sources where it was developed. I also received a variety of treatments for some back and shoulder injuries that I had developed while doing Chiropractic spinal manipulation. I learned theory and new techniques from acupuncturists and bones setters in Russia, Hong Kong, mainland China and in Thailand where I spent a whole month completing specialized training and treatment at the Tao Garden in Cheng Mai where I taught spinal manipulation and acupuncture as well. This time literally changed my life as I was personally mentored by the best practitioners in these Eastern Schools and became familiar with powerful techniques rarely revealed in the West.

When I returned from the Far East, I began to teach acupuncture neurology and radiology for the acupuncture school in Orlando which I previously attended to earn my doctorate as a Board Certified Diplomate and received my Florida license as a Doctor of Oriental Medicine.

I was interested in studying Integrative medicine, so I attended and completed my academic training at a medical school in Miami while teaching acupuncture for them as well as offering acupuncture seminars.

Since acupuncture and chiropractic has so potently helped me and my family, I decided to create self help programs for doctors as well as patients to be able to treat themselves as well as their patients. I then began teaching webinars/seminars and hope to offer continuing education for acupuncturists, MD’s, DO’s DC’s PT’s and massage therapists so that these practitioners will be able to take online recertification directly from my website.

Through my education encompassing both alternative and traditional medicine, medical training both in America and the Orient, and 40 years of extensive experience healing people, I have come to strongly believe in holistic and integrative healthcare. My goal is to bring acupuncture to the medical community as well as to fellow practitioners to improve the health delivery system throughout the world with blogs, YouTube, videos as well as actual seminars to help practitioners become more clinically effective with these treatments.
As an Acupuncturist and Doctor of Oriental Medicine, I am now offering house calls to my patients throughout Indian River County and other areas. I want to teach my patients powerful self-help techniques so that they can learn pain control and eradicate not only their symptoms but the cause of their discomfort.

The core of my practice is acupuncture and traditional medical regimes that can trace their origins to Chinese medicine. In traditional Chinese medicine the mental, emotional and physical are parts of the same entity. This concept takes the whole person into account, both in diagnosis and treatment. Disease is typically viewed as disorder or disharmony, and treatment is directed toward balancing and harmonizing. Diagnosis is made through gentle and non-invasive techniques such as interview; inspection of the face, tongue and pulse; and palpation of specific acupuncture points.

Acupuncture is a method of prevention, correction and treatment of disease, illness, injury or pain by encouraging the body to heal naturally and improve functioning. By employing a wide variety of proven techniques, I treat an array of illnesses including but not limited to chronic pain, IBS, allergies, cancer care, depression, back pain, hypertension, headaches, insomnia, anxiety, depression, arthritis and mobility issues.

If you are suffering yourself or know someone that is in need, then I would be honored to have an opportunity to complete a physical exam to determine how I can assist you. To make a referral, set up an initial exam, or to answer any questions, please contact me directly any time on my cell… 772-532-1313 or click here to contact me online.

It is my mission to make a difference in the lives of those who are suffering and be a Healer to the Hurting.
I hope that you provide me the opportunity to help you too!
